Karen & Vik: An Editorial Mountain Wedding at The St. Regis Deer Valley
By Lilly & Iris Floral Design House
A mountain setting has its own sense of scale. The horizon stretches, the light shifts, and every design decision becomes part of a larger landscape.
For Karen and Vik’s wedding at The St. Regis Deer Valley, green and white florals brought a refined focal point to a celebration rooted in personal meaning. We’re honored to see their day featured in Inside Weddings.
A Setting with Meaning
Deer Valley was already part of Karen and Vik’s story, a place they returned to throughout their relationship. Their celebration brought together Hindu and Western traditions, surrounded by the mountains and the people closest to them.
That connection to place is a beautiful starting point for design. A setting can hold memories long before the first flower arrives.
A Floral Palette in Conversation with Fashion
Working alongside Irene + Co Events, we created florals within a vision inspired by the couple’s wedding attire. Green and white carried through to the altar, with calla lilies, Karen’s favorite flower, at the heart of the floral palette.
We love when a personal detail gives the design its direction. A favorite bloom offers something specific to build around: a silhouette, a gesture, a sense of movement. Within a restrained palette, those qualities become especially expressive.
Giving the Ceremony Presence
The couple concentrated their flowers at the altar, allowing the ceremony to become the defining floral moment.
For an outdoor wedding, placement matters as much as abundance. Flowers give the eye somewhere to settle within an expansive view. Thoughtful scale creates intimacy around the couple while leaving room for the landscape to be experienced.
This is one of the most compelling possibilities of ceremony design: creating a space that feels gathered and intentional, even beneath an open sky.
A Reception Led by Candlelight
The reception took a quieter floral approach, with elegant candelabras shaping the tables and chandeliers above the tent echoing the beading of Karen’s dress.
A cohesive celebration can move through different moods. The ceremony may carry the strongest floral expression, while the reception invites warmth, conversation, and the softness of candlelight. The connection comes through proportion, palette, and the care given to each transition.
Beauty That Continues Beyond the Celebration
After the wedding, remaining flowers were donated to a local senior center.
There is something deeply meaningful about flowers becoming part of someone else’s day. Their beauty continues in a new setting, carrying a little of the celebration with them.
Final Thoughts
Karen and Vik’s wedding reflects an approach we value deeply: beginning with the people, responding to the setting, and giving each design element a clear purpose.
If you are dreaming of a wedding in Park City, Deer Valley, or beyond, we would love to explore the atmosphere you want to create.
